United Way of Central Maryland is a 95-year-old organization that works to promote equity, create opportunities, and improve lives for residents of Greater Maryland. From February onwards, AARP's Tax-Aide program, in collaboration with the Baltimore County Department of Aging, will provide free tax preparation and electronic filing services at select centers for the elderly and other locations in Baltimore County and the City of Baltimore. These services are designed for people with low to moderate incomes, with a focus on those aged 60 and above. If you're interested in taking advantage of this program, you'll need to schedule an appointment.
Additionally, the Fuel Fund of Maryland provides resources to vulnerable families in Maryland to cover their heating and utility needs. The Maryland CASH Academy is another flagship program of the Maryland CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) campaign that offers free classes on personal finance topics throughout the state. HealthCare Access Maryland is another organization that works with support from the government and private sector to help residents enroll in public health care coverage and navigate the complex health care system. The Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) also offers free (and in some cases low-cost) legal representation to Maryland residents with limited incomes. United Way of Central Maryland is dedicated to helping those in need throughout Central Maryland. With a wide range of programs available, there's something for everyone.
